Rivers States’ Godgift Timipre will do battle with Christopher Otodo of Kaduna State in one of the semifinals of the NNPC/Chevron Junior Tennis Masters held at the National Stadium, Lagos.
The game is one the games, which decided the finalists of the competition slated to end at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, on Sunday.
Also fighting for a place in the final is John Dickson from Bauchi State, who will confront Tochukwu Eze of Imo State.
Dickson came from a set down to outlast Augustine Steven of Chevron Tennis Academy in three thrilling sets of 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
On his part, Eze produced a huge upset against second seed, Christopher Bulus from Kaduna State 7-6, 2-6, 7-6.
The game was a thriller as the relatively unknown champion from Imo State walked his magic against his more exposed opponent who incidentally is a trainee of the Chevron Tennis Academy, run by foremost tennis developer, Chris Enahoro.
Remarkably too, Bulus exit marked the end of the romance of trainees of the Chevron Tennis Academy in the tournament sponsored by Chevron Nigeria Limited, an indication of the high level of competition and unbiased officiating that has been the hallmark of the tournament and is set to continue in years ahead.
