The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Enugu State chapter has raised about N160million for the building of the party’s state secretariat.

At the fund raising dinner in Enugu aimed at making the party stronger in the state and the entire country, Ike Ekweremadu, deputy Senate president, said allegations against him in the Senate were about non-existent issues.

According to Ekweremadu the allegations had nothing to do with his position and progress of PDP in the struggle for political supremacy in the country.

The deputy Senate president revealed that the leadership of PDP had planned ways of ensuring that it restores its leading position and called on all members to make useful contributions to realise their objectives.

“I`m sure you are seeing and hearing what they say in the media, most of those things are certainly, not true, no police is investigating me because there’s nothing to investigate. It’s only APC and their Media that are investigating. What is happing in the Senate is purely Senate affairs and will remain as that,” Ekweremadu stated.

Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Enugu State governor, pledged to make the People’s Democratic Party formidable in the coal city state and beyond through hard work to raise the bar of good leadership in the state.

Ugwuanyi said his administration would continue to live up to the expectations of the people to further project the democratic principles of the party.

Also at the dinner was Ken Nnamani, a former Senate president, who advised members of the party not to be discouraged by the challenges of the last election.

He urged PDP stakeholders and other members not to lose hope but to continue their support to sustain the party’s strength.
