Electricity consumers in Abuja can now register their grievances as the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), in view of the transition to a private sector led industry, yesterday, commissioned a complaint center.

Chinedu Nebo, the minister of power, speaking at the commissioning, stressed the importance of an official forum to enable the feedback process in the currently emerging electricity industry.

“There must be structures of interaction put in place to amicably resolve complaints without resorting to legal issues when the new owners take over,” Nebo, represented by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Godknows Igali, said.

Chairman of NERC, Sam Amadi, clarifying on emerging arguments said that on-going reforms in the sector was not only about attracting investors, but was more about ensuring consumer satisfaction.
