The Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja has dismissed the application filed by Abba Mohammed, the son to the former Chariman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Bello Haliru, asking for permission to travel abroad for his medical treatment.

Bello Haliru and his son, Abba Mohammed, alongside, Bam Project and Properties Limited, are facing corruption charges, for allegedly receiving N300 million from the office of the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

Emmanuel Ekong, counsel representong Abba had informed the Justice Ramat Mohammed of an application, seeking permission to allow him travel to the United Kingdom to attend to his failing health.

Ekong also asked the court to permit the release of Abba’s passport so that if the first application is granted, he would be able to travel for the proposed treatment.

The counsel added that the first appointment of Mohammed was in March 23, 2017 which he could not meet up with but he has another appointment in May.

He however urged the court to grant him leave to travel abroad for medical treatment.

The prosecuting counsel, Leke Atoglabe, while opposing the application informed the court that there is no document in the court to support the application of the defendant.

He therefore urged the court to refuse the application of the first defendant to travel abroad for treatment.

After listening to the arguments of both counsel, Justice Mohammed affirmed, that Abba had an application of doctor’s appointment of the defendant for March 23, 2017, but he does not have any other date for doctor’s appointment in May for him to grant the defendant’s leave to travel abroad for medical treatment.

The trial court adjourned the matter till May 10, 2017 for continuation of trial
