The High Commission of Nigeria in Canada has said it is compiling the names of Nigerian nationals that require emergency evacuation from Canada due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.

The High Commission stated that this will enable the Nigerian government to provide necessary assistance to her citizens in Canada who wish to participate in the planned evacuation exercise.

A letter dated 6th  April titled ‘Evacuation of Nigerians from Canada’ and signed by Azu Mozia, Minister (Political and Consular Affairs) for the High Commissioner requested that Nigerian citizens who desire to participate urgently email their detailed information to [email protected].

The information needed includes their full name, contact details, travel document, current location, current health status about COVID-19 and reasons for the request.

The letter further stated that when the following information is received, it will be forwarded to the Nigerian government for appropriate action and feedback to the potential evacuees accordingly.
