INEC Chairman Mahmoud Yakubu, stated this on Thursday in Abuja at the First Regular Quarterly Consultative Meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs).

Giving a breakdown of the 2,786,405 new voters, he put the number of male voters at 1,619,513 (representing 58 percent) while 1,166,892 (representing 42 percent) are female.

“The Commission has also recorded 132,431 requests for transfer from original places of registration to new locations as well as 261,429 requests for replacement of PVCs that were damaged, defaced or wrong entries of personal and other details. We wish to assure Nigerians that the Commission will continue to explore ways by which we can improve on all the processes associated with the ongoing Voter Registration exercise,” he said.

Yakubu disclosed that the timetables and schedule of activities for Ekiti and Osun governorship elections will be released on Thursday next week.
