The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) has said it will fully commence a Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for the Institute’s April 2018 Professional Examinations Diet.

The President/Chairman of Council of the CIBN, Segun Ajibola, made this disclosure during a three- day official visit to the Lagos State Branch of the institute, held last week at the State Secretariat in Lagos.

Ajibola in his address, urged the bankers to be professionals by adhering strictly to the Code of Conduct in the Banking and Finance Industry.

According to Ajibola, the CIBN as the sole accreditation agency under the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)’s Competency Framework for the industry has so far accredited 15 bank academies and 12 Educational Training Service Providers (ETSPs).

“The CIBN is regularly partnering with the regulatory bodies in the banking industry, that is, CBN and Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) to ensure an efficient and sound banking system. We continue to contribute to different exposure drafts from these regulatory institutions,” said Ajibola, as he encouraged members not in paid employment to apply for Practice License to enable them practice outside the four walls of the banking industry.

As part of activities lined-up for the CIBN President by the state branch of the institute, Ajibola also paid a courtesy visit to the University of Lagos, where he held a stakeholders’ engagement with the Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos, Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, a professor.

However, while at the stakeholders’ meeting with the academics from the University of Lagos, Ajibola called for collaboration with the Institute’s in the airing of its flagship radio programme ‘You and your Banker’ on UNILAG 103.1 FM.

Kola Abdul, Chairman, CIBN Lagos State Branch, in his remarks said, the branch is unified towards a common goal, building the strongest and most virile branch of the Institute.

“Today, history is being made. This is the first time in the history of our revered Institute and to the best of our knowledge, that a serving President/Chairman of Council will visit Lagos State Branch. We are aware that you have visited some other branches. To us in Lagos State Branch this initiative is laudable,” Abdul said.
