The defence Headquarters (DHQ) said it has recaptured Mallam Fotari, a northern part of Borno State from the hands of Boko haram.
The troops of operation “Lafiya Dole” and the multinational joint task force Wednesday, engaged in a fierce battle with Boko Haram terrorists which was closely covered by air operations.
The Director Defence information Brigadier general Abubakar Rabe, in an interview said, the terrorists have been dislodged and the military has taken full control of the area.
“The situation has been normalised and under control we had serious skirmishes with the insurgents yesterday but fortunately we were able to crush the ruminants of the Boko Haram. Many of them have been killed and as I’m speaking with you the situation has been normalised and has reached the standard of the full control of the Nigerian army.
“Naturally it is a war, what people are saying is not what happened. The most important thing is that we dislodged them and we were able to claim the ground.
“All what we are doing collectively, jointly with both land and air forces is to ensure that no Boko haram are able to come to that place to hold ground there.”
