Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State apparently rattled by the Appeal Court verdict, which has sustained the judgement of the lower court, the Rivers State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, which had nullified his election, calling for a rerun, has instructed his lawyers to appeal Wednesday’s judgment of the Court of Appeal that ordered fresh governorship election in the state.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Simeon Nwakaudu, Governor Wike stated that he disagreed with the judgment, hence his decision to exhaust his constitutional right by challenging the Appeal Court judgement at the Supreme Court.

Wike called on all his supporters and the people of Rivers State to remain calm, as he believed that justice would be done at the end of day.

He assured the people of the state that he would use all constitutional processes to protect the mandate they allegedly freely bestowed on him, hence his decision to approach the Supreme Court for further adjudication.

The governor said he still remained the duly elected governor of Rivers State pending the determination of his appeal at the Supreme Court.

He assured the people that all ongoing development projects would continue, while his administration would continue to promote the security of lives and property across the state.
