President Muhammadu Buhari has been commended for his administration’s transparent policy thrust.

The commendation was given by Sam Nkang Abang, an APC chieftain in Cross River, in a statement in Calabar.

It also commended steps taken so far by Buhari administration to check tackle the challenges of insecurity and insurgency in some parts of Nigeria and appointment of key officials of government.

Abang said appointment so far into Buhari’s administration, including those of service chiefs, reflected fair play and equity and had been consistent with federal character principle of the Nigerian Government.

According to Abang, President Buhari’s “timely and fatherly” resolve to release $2.5 billion from the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) account to states and local governments to settle outstanding arrears is commendable.

The statement also commended Buhari for his administration’s anti-corruption policy which blocked some leakages and ensured improvement in Nigeria’s foreign reserves from $29 billion to $32 billion.

It stated: “Let me express the appreciation of the people and residents of Cross River to our esteemed President for appointing our son, Rear Admiral Ibok-Ette Ekwe Ibas, as Chief of Naval Staff.

“Ibas’ appointment is first of its kind in the political history of this state. It is a demonstration of the desire of Mr. President to heal the wounds that many years of acute federal neglect have brought upon the state.’’
Abang said that the people of Cross River State were confident in the capacity of the new Chief of Naval Staff to take the Nigerian Navy to a new level of combat- readiness and fitness.

It also expressed confident that under Ibas, the Nigerian Navy would take the lead in actualising government’s determination to put an end to insurgency and pipeline vandalism in Nigeria’s maritime domain.

The statement also urged the people of Cross River to support the new administration in Nigeria under Buhari to foster the development of the state.
