Abia pro-groups hail Court of Appeal guber verdict

Ikpeazu

A coalition of 51 pro-groups in Abia State has hailed the recent judgment of the Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri, the Imo State capital, which declared Alex Otti of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as the rightful winner of the April 2015 gubernatorial election in the state, describing it as a landmark one.

The group numbering over 800,000, which claimed to have contributed for charge of Abia State leadership with Alex Otti, commended Abians for their doggedness in being steadfast in the change project.

In a statement made available to BusinessDay in Umuahia and signed by Ugochukwu Ononogbu, leader, Angel Njoku Ukah and Isaac N. Onuoha on behalf of the groups, re-assured all Abians and people of goodwill to have confidence in the judiciary, especially at the appellate and apex courts, adding that justice must always prevail.

According to Ononogbu, the justices who delivered the judgment made thorough study of the tribunal case and judgment before arriving at the truth, which is the only thing that stands the test of time.

“Those that are condemning the judgment of the wise justices of Appeal Court cannot be wise than them in law. These five justices are experienced and tested and therefore should not be mediocre as assumed by the uninformed,” they said.
