According to a recent survey by NOIPolls, over 49 % of Nigerians believe the country is unsafe. Nigeria’s peacefulness deteriorated by three ranks, ranking it 20th from the bottom out of 163 countries.

Despite not making it to the ten safest countries in the world in 2023, Nigeria still has many safe places to live. For example, the capital city of Abuja is relatively safe, as are some of the major cities in the south of the country, such as Lagos and Port Harcourt.

According to the Global Peace Index, here are the ten safest countries in the world in 2023.
