Tim Motors Nigeria has unveiled plans to establish electric vehicle (EV) service stations across major cities in the country, including Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Kano, as the company moves to address growing concerns over after-sales support and strengthen confidence in Nigeria’s emerging EV market.
This follows its recent introduction of Geely Galaxy new energy vehicles into Nigeria, under a sole distributorship arrangement with Geely Auto, one of China’s major forces in the country’s transition to new-energy mobility.
Leon Zhan, chief executive officer of Tim Motors Nigeria, disclosed this during a media interaction held alongside a test-drive session for the company’s newly introduced Geely Galaxy electric vehicle lineup.
According to Zhan, the planned service network is designed to address one of the biggest concerns among prospective EV buyers, access to reliable maintenance, spare parts, and technical support.

He said the company has already partnered with 10 service providers nationwide and will continue expanding the network over the coming months.
“Many people ask how long and how far it is for them to get support if their EV cars have issues. This is why we have designed a system whereby we work with partners who will handle such. We have 10 already. We will have some in major cities like Abuja, Kano, and Port Harcourt in the coming months,” he said.
Zhan added that Tim Motors aims to ensure customers can access vehicle support within a five-kilometre radius of their homes or workplaces through its growing partner network.
He also disclosed that the company has assembled a dedicated team in China responsible for sourcing and delivering genuine spare parts to Nigeria to ensure prompt after-sales service.
Beyond after-sales support, Zhan revealed that the company has already put infrastructure in place in Abeokuta, Ogun State, to facilitate local vehicle assembly, describing the move as part of its long-term commitment to the Nigerian automotive industry.

He expressed confidence in the future of electric mobility in Nigeria, citing rising fuel costs and the country’s still-low EV penetration rate as key factors that present significant growth opportunities.
“The future of new-energy vehicles in Nigeria is very bright,” he said, adding that the company plans to introduce additional Geely Galaxy models into the Nigerian market in the coming months.
According to him, the EX2, EX5, and EX5 EM-i are only the first phase of the company’s product rollout, with more models expected as demand grows.
The EX5 EM-i is a plug-in hybrid sport utility vehicle combining petrol and electric power with a driving range of more than 1,000 kilometres. The EX5 is an all-electric mid-size SUV offering a driving range of over 430 kilometres, while the EX2 is a compact all-electric hatchback designed primarily for urban commuting.
Geely Auto, one of China’s leading automobile manufacturers, owns globally recognised brands including Volvo Cars, Polestar, and Lotus. The company sold more than 3.4 million vehicles globally, making it one of the world’s largest automotive manufacturers and strengthening its presence in international markets.
