Renault, a French automotive manufacturer, has pledged support for vehicle assembling in Nigeria.

The French automaker whose Duster sports utility vehicle (SUV) and Logan, a sedan model are locally assembled in Nigeria, said it will support Coscharis Motors Assembly Limited.

Renault’s commitment to local assembly in Nigeria underscores its dedication to enhancing automotive manufacturing capabilities and contributing to the country’s automotive sector growth.

Laurent Ton-That, area operation manager for sub-Saharan Africa and Indian Ocean Islands, pledged this during his recent visit to the Coscharis Motors Assembly Plant in Awoyaya, Lagos.

Laurent Ton-That commended Coscharis Motors’ modern facility, where Renault’s models of cars are assembled in Nigeria.

He inspected key production lines including chassis and body assembly, brake testing, vehicle vibration testing, and paint and body.

“I am impressed by what I have seen today. Renault is committed to supporting Coscharis Motors Assembly by providing necessary Knock Down kits, training, and other essential resources to keep the assembling plant functional,” said Ton-That.

“With Renault’s support, we uphold original equipment manufacturer (OEM) standards and ensure the highest levels of professionalism in delivering Renault vehicles to the Nigerian market,” Adepinye.

In a separate engagement, Ton-That disclosed plans for Renault to introduce three new vehicle models to the Nigerian market in 2025.

He said the expansion aims to enrich the market’s offerings and cater to diverse consumer preferences.

Josiah Samuel, group managing director of Coscharis Group, said the company will commit to Nigeria’s economic growth through sustained investments, particularly in the automotive sector.

“Our ongoing investment in human and capital resources underscores our confidence in Nigeria’s economic resurgence. Coscharis Motors Assembly can increase production significantly, aligned with market demand,” said Samuel.

The partnership between Renault and Coscharis Motors facilitates job creation and technology transfer and enriches the diversity of automobile offerings in Nigeria.
