The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has engaged with Orile Agege, Iba LCDA, and Alimosho local government on the preparation of the Purple Line rail project.

This was stated in the authority’s X handle (formerly Twitter) that officials from LAMATA, led by Osa Konyeha, technical adviser planning, met with stakeholders and important local government officials to discuss the upcoming Purple Line rail project.

These included Johnson Babatunde, chairman of Orile Agege LCDA, Yisa Abiola Jubril, chairman of Iba LCDA, and Dare Ogunkoya, secretary to Alimosho local government, who represented Jelili Adewale Sulaimon, chairman of the local government.

The Purple Line is a 57 km rail line, connecting Redemption Camp in Ogun State to Volkswagen area along Lagos-Badagry expressway and it will feature 17 stations and integrate with Lagos’s existing rail network.

LAMATA representatives, including Babatunde Osho, lead consultant, Kolawole Ojelabi, head of corporate communication, and Dipo Quadri, conducted the engagement together.

LAMATA also stated that this sensitisation exercise precedes the scoping exercise, a mandatory step in the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment before project implementation.

The local authorities pledged to support LAMATA in the implementation of this impactful project that will change the fortunes of many for the better along the corridor.
