The Lagos state government has disclosed that Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL) has transported over 60 million passengers across the state in nearly six years, as part of efforts to improve public transportation and provide affordable mobility for residents.
Oluwaseun Osiyemi, Lagos state commissioner for transportation, made this known during the 2026 Ministerial Press Briefing commemorating the third year of the second term of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos state.
According to the report presented by the Ministry, LBSL moved a total of 60,882,000 passengers from May 2019 to February 2025, transporting over 42,266 passengers with an average of 1,000 bus trips daily.
The report also stated that LBSL has continued to provide affordable transportation for Lagos residents, noting that since its inception, the average fare has remained cheaper than the average fares of the informal transport operators.
Osiyemi said LBSL currently maintains the widest public bus network coverage in the state, operating across all five IBILE divisions and 13 Local Government Areas, including Ibeju-Lekki, Ojo, and Ikorodu.
The report revealed that the agency presently operates 21 corridors and over 40 bus service routes across the State, supported by six depot facilities and a fleet of 300 buses.
He added that the state government remains committed to expanding public transport infrastructure and improving connectivity across road, rail, and water transportation systems in the state.
