Ifeanyi Agwu, managing director of BKG Exhibitions Limited, has urged Nigerians to fully embrace Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a better alternative to petrol-powered cars, especially in this post-subsidy era.
According to him, CNG is a cleaner energy, and it gives cost efficiency to car users.
Speaking during an interview with journalists at the 18th Lagos Motor Fair is ongoing, Agwu said CNG would help bring down inflation in Nigeria.
“The Federal Government has been trying to promote the acceptance of CNG-powered vehicles and we all must support the government in this area. When fuel subsidy was biting hard, I changed my generator to gas and that engine hasn’t had any issues since then.
He said using a CNG-powered generator has proven that cleaner energy keeps the engine healthier than petrol in addition to spending less on buying petrol.
“Besides reducing vehicular exhaust gas emissions and protecting the environment, CNG keeps the engine running perfectly. People are losing a lot of money by not adopting CNG,” he added.
On what the foreign exhibitors are contributing to Nigeria’s economy, he said Nigerians can take advantage of the opportunity offered by the Lagos Motor Fair to strike partnership deals that would result in manufacturing automobile spare parts in-country.
He said the Lagos Motor Fair has contributed to the growth of Nigeria’s tourism sector with hotels fully booked and vehicles hired for use among other activities that boost the economy.
