What did Nigeria gain from Border Closure?

After 16 months of shutting Nigeria’s land borders, they are now being reopened but the reasons for which they were supposedly shut have largely remained the same.

Food smuggling (especially rice)? Likely to continue as agricultural productivity has not improved insecurity? No evidence of efforts made to boost security in and around the country’s borders. Criminal and terrorist activities have continued as usual.

Petrol smuggling? Likely to continue until subsidy is 100% gone and it becomes unattractive.
