President Muhammadu Buhari is currently presiding over the first weekly cabinet meeting dedicated to assessing and analysing the implementation of the 2019 budget, after spending about 19 days outside the country.
The President who returned to Nigeria on the 15th of November, had left the country on the 28th of October on a four-day visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The President participated in the Future Investment Initiative, which was christened “Davos in the Desert”. Apart from attending the summit, which had a debating format for global leaders, investors and innovators to compare notes and share ideas, President Buhari held extensive talks with the Kingdom’s rulers, King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his son, the powerful Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, MBS. The President’s meetings with the two prominent rulers marked an important upswing in relations between Nigeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Buhari had proceeded from there to the United Kingdom on a private visit which lasted for 15 days, during which Vice President Yemi Osinbajo presided over the cabinet meetings
BusinessDay gathered that the cabinet meeting will review the implementation of the 2019 budget amongst other issues tabled for discussion, as over N650b has been released for capital expenditures
