Premium automaker, Mercedes-Benz, recorded the highest first-quarter sales volume in the company’s history with 69,187 vehicles sold, up 12.5%. During the first quarter the German car company sold 69,187 units, up 12.5% and in March, it sold 24,646 vehicles, an increase of 6.5% compared with the same period last year. The increase comes before the company’s new product launches, which are scheduled for later this year. In a statement, Steve Cannon, the chief executive of Mercedes-Benz South Africa said, “We’re coming out of our highest first quarter on record and that’s before launching a single new product,”

With completely redesigned E-Class models arriving at dealerships, a next generation S-Class and a new entry point for the brand, that is the CLA in the wings, Mercedes is looking at its strongest year on record.

The C-Class sold 8,396 units, an increase of 32.5%, the E-Class sold 4,009 units last month and the M-Class sold 3,501 units. Diesel model sales increased 2.4% to 1,640 units.
