Franchisee displays new GAC models for public scrutiny

In preparation for its imminent formal launch in Nigeria, CIG Motors has ended a week-long display of range of Trumpchi sport utility vehicles to the general public. The open product display took place inside the prestigious Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event is coming many weeks after CIG Motors invited selected motoring journalists to take a look at the new Trumpchi SUV, followed by a brief test-drive in front of the Oriental hotel, up to the front entrance of the hotel and back to the car park.

But company sources said that the just ended display of the Trumpchi SUV was to create general public awareness about the brand, showcase its numerous features and more importantly gauge the feelings and reactions of customers in terms of pricing. It is not yet known if the exercise will be conducted in other parts of Nigeria.

Apart from Trumpchi SUV, other passenger models manufactured by Guangzhou Automobile Group Company (GAC Motor) Ltd are still being awaited at the CIG Motors showroom to be opened adjacent Radisson Blu luxury hotel on Ozumba Mbadiwe busy road Victoria Island.

GAC Motor is headquartered in Guangzhou, China. Fielding questions from BusinessDay on what is the unique selling points of the car, a top management staff of CIG Motors said that, Trumpchi is a well built vehicle ready to tackle competitionHe stated that since its establishment, Trumpchii has been technologically on par with other global brands and developed based on top-notch European performance. Designed in Italy, built in world class manufacturing plant in China, it has a C-Class chassis and equipment. B-Class value and quality and the price of an A-Class. The manufacturers hopes it will be extremely competitive in the global market.

GAC Motor’s entire models especially in the safety performance rating got the 5-star award in the C-NCAP test and beyond most famous brands. GAC not only has relationships with the global top 10 parts suppliers, but have also internalised Europe’s advanced chassis and powertrain technology.

GAC insists on pursuing scientific development, enhancing the core competition that contemporary in the market place and achieving sustainable development that will the automaker to the next level. It plans to establish distribution networks in 18 countries in 2014 covering each continent and extending further to neighbouring markets.
