businessday-icon

ABC Transport Plc has commenced a series of expansion in cargo operations. This expansion is engendered by the company’s desire to strengthen ABC Cargo Express, one of its many divisions spanning haulage, tours, hospitality, petty cash and passenger services.

As part of its expansion strategy, ABC Cargo Express has commenced a sustainable re-fleeting programme, by acquiring 12 brand new trucks for rapid delivery of goods across the nation and establishing a maintenance depot in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos solely dedicated to cargo trucks.

In addition, the subsidiary has begun opening up new outlets for business, predominantly in Lagos. Some outlets that are already established can be found on Ojo Igbede Road, by St. Patrick Bus Stop, Opposite UBA, Alaba International Market and along Lekki Expressway opposite Jakande 1st gate, Beside FCMB Bank.

Others that will become fully operational in the next few weeks include Aspamda North (ABC has an office in Aspamda South) and Ikorodu. According to Kamalendu Ghosh, the Chief Operating Officer, ABC Cargo Express, “plans are already underway to fortify cargo operations in the north, with ABC Kaduna terminal as the hub of northern operations.” The cargo warehouse in Katampke, Abuja, has been outfitted to accommodate large-scale consignment and third party warehousing.

The move is aimed at increasing deliveries up north. And with an adequate Goods-In-Transit insurance in place, customers can enjoy more peace of mind whenever they have to transact cargo businesses. He further revealed that “ABC Cargo Express has installed a Java-based technology to enhance its e-waybill software, which not only enables the company to keep track of consignments, their movements and locations, but also disseminates SMS alerts/notifications to consignees for easy and prompt collection once their goods get to the specified terminal.

All of this is expected to reduce delays and improve efficiencies in transactions and waybills as well as improve customer service on the whole. ABC Cargo Express transports consolidated items of various sizes and weight, and lightweight parcels and documents that require express handling and dispatch.
