Wi-PAY Technologies has announced that it is set to unveil a new mobile payment app called Wi-App for Smartphone’s (Android and iPhone operating system, iOS).

In a statement made available to BusinessDay by Abiodun Olajide of the firm’s media department, Wi-PAY said with the volume of mobile payments set to keep growing around the world and particularly in Africa, according to industry experts, Wi-App would be well positioned as a new and smarter way for consumers and business owners to take better control of their personal finances.

The company said this app will be available in November 2015, and that consumers and business owners can use Wi-App in paying utility and personal bills of any amount via their personal bank cards.

With mobile app usage projected to grow further over the next few years, Wi-PAY is said to provide a smarter way for consumers and business owners to enhance their financial experience. “We want to relieve consumers the physical stress and pain of paying bills”, said Bessman P. Henry, Wi-Pay IT and Support Manager.

He added: “Quick and secure payment of bills is the top service requested by our merchants and consumers, and we are pleased to give them a simpler, faster and more convenient experience compared to our competitors.”

Consumers pay bills in multiple ways; through banks, billers via online or even in person. According to the survey carried out by Wi-Pay, most consumers use two or more methods to pay bills. Wi-App is here to eliminate the need for multiple choices in bill payments by aggregating the services together into one platform where consumers can view and pay their bills instantly.

“This is an opportunity for independent agents and merchants to offer their customers a better way to pay bills”, said Atonye Wilcox, Executive Vice President, and Wi-Pay. She added that consumers of this generation are highly informed and increasingly tech savvy, therefore are demanding for the best ways to consolidate and speed up financial transactions, as well as monitoring their personal accounts and paying bills all on the go.

Wi-Pay recognizes the fact that users love convenience and control, especially when it comes to their money. Wi-App makes it a lot easier to pay bills and it’s wonderful that users can choose which personal account to pay their bills from at any point.

“The convenience of online payment technologies is continuing to bring services closer to consumers” according to Charles Ighedo, VP of Wi-Pay. “With rising awareness, adoption of mobile devices and increasing internet penetration, we believe that our payment platform, accessible via the web and mobile app will make an impact in the way consumers pay and the time spent to do so.”
