Tech-driven innovation is essential for inclusion in insurance sector – CEOs

Nigerian chief executive officers (CEOs) present at the United Capital Securities Ltd’s CEO roundtable breakfast forum, held in Lagos focused on technology’s pivotal role in the Nigerian insurance sector.

The roundtable extensively examined the insurance sector, emphasising the potential of technology for enhancing efficiency, promoting inclusion, and implementing cybersecurity measures.

The second edition themed, “Technology as a Critical Driver of Growth and Transformation in the Nigerian Insurance Landscape”, was designed to provide a platform for stakeholders to discuss and explore ways to leverage technology to accelerate the growth and development of the insurance sector in Nigeria.

Sunday Olorundare Thomas, Commissioner for Insurance and CEO of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM). In his keynote address, commended United Capital Securities Ltd for catalyzing the discourse on Insurtech and highlighted the strategic measures adopted by the commission to promote innovation in the sector.

The duo subsequently engaged in a fireside chat where they explored the pivotal role of technology in driving efficiency, transparency, and inclusion in the industry.

The forum also featured a panel of thought leaders and subject matter experts who participated in an interactive discourse on the role of the government and regulators in fostering the adoption of innovative technologies in the insurance industry, strategies for mitigating cybersecurity risks in the age of digital transformation and leveraging technology to enhance financial literacy and insurance penetration among underserved communities.
