S24 to get Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba language options April — Samsung

Samsung unveils new AI-enabled Galaxy Z foldables

Samsung will integrate Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba languages into its Galaxy S24 series live translate feature by April 2024, the firm has disclosed.

In a statement, Stephen Okwara, Product and Quality Assurance manager, at Samsung, said, “Currently, we have 13 different languages on the Live Translate feature of the Galaxy S24 series, but by the end of April 2024, we will be introducing more languages, with Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa inclusive.”

The manager stated that it has integrated AI into its existing smartphone in a bid to bring the tech closer to people. “With tools like Circle Search, Live Translate, Chat Assist, and Live Call, people can work more efficiently, faster, and more conveniently,” Okwara stated.

Experts believe that Samsung’s AI phone launch is a response to the growing demand for intelligent devices. According to projections, the global market size for AI-powered translation is expected to reach $7.72 billion by 2028, highlighting the importance of this technology.

Tech giants are ramping up investments for the implementation of AI across other products in their portfolios. At the formal launch of its S24 series, Samsung noted that AI-focused solutions like Circle to Search, Live Translate, Chat Assist, and Note Assist, among many others, are a testament to the futuristic nature of AI and how it will shape interactions with technology.

Samsung further stated that it plans to expand its AI features to other products soon. “Samsung has plans to cascade the AI features across other products and these we will be seeing as the year moves on,” Chika Nnadozie, Head of Marketing and PR, at Samsung, West Africa, added.
