PlaywithTomide has entered into a partnership with OneDosh and acquired an equity stake in the company, in a move aimed at addressing persistent payment challenges faced by gamers across Nigeria.
For many users in the country’s fast-growing gaming community, paying for games, subscriptions, and other digital services remains inconsistent, with failed transactions, declined cards, and limited access to reliable cross-border payment options continuing to pose challenges.
The creator, known as PlaywithTomide, said the decision was informed by both personal experience and feedback from his audience, many of whom encounter these issues regularly.
Through the partnership, he will take on an active role in supporting the company’s efforts to provide more seamless payment solutions, particularly for digital transactions that extend beyond local markets.
“What stood out to us wasn’t just Tomide’s reach, but also how closely he understands his community. This partnership is about building something that works for them, not just promoting the product, but solving a real problem in how they pay and transact,” said Babatunde Osinowo, co-founder, OneDosh.
The collaboration is expected to prioritise product integration within existing user behaviour rather than traditional advertising campaigns, with a focus on embedding the service into gaming content, live sessions, and community-driven activities such as tournaments and challenges.
This approach reflects a broader shift toward functional partnerships within the creator economy, where influencers take on more operational roles in products tailored to their audiences.
By taking an equity position, PlaywithTomide is also expected to contribute to how the product is positioned and adopted within his community, with an emphasis on usability and alignment with existing payment habits.
