Online digital financial services firm, Paylater is one of the two Nigeria companies that made it to the fifth class of Launchpad Accelerator by Google.
Google Launchpad Accelerator is a six month acceleration program that matches top growth-stage startups from emerging countries or ecosystems with the best of Google including its people, network, and advanced technologies – to help scale great products.
Roy Glasberg, Global Lead, Google Developers Launchpad explained in a statement the program includes an intensive two week bootcamp in San Francisco and mentoring from over 30 teams across Google and expert mentors from top technology companies and VCs in Silicon Valley and globally. Participants receive equity-free support, credits for Google products and media training, and continue to work closely with Google in their home country.
The program selected only three startups from Africa for the fifth class. The start-ups include Paylater, Helium Health (Nigeria); and Aerobotics (South Africa).
Start-ups picked from other parts of the world are Maya Apa (Bangladesh); BabyChakra, m.Paani, NIRAMAI and SocialCops (India); Kulina (Indonesia); Ayananh (Phillippines); Priceza (Thailand); Monkey Junior (Vietnam); Synetiq (Hungary); Szopi (Poland); App in the Air and Voximplant (Russia); Etermax and Restorando (Argentina); Loggi, Nubank and Grupo ZAP Viva Real (Brazil); and Clip and Kubo.financiero (Mexico).
The class 5 will kick off in January 29, 2018 at the Google Developers Launchpad Space in San Francisco and will include two weeks of all-expense paid training.
