ChatGPT has experienced a global outage, denying users access on Tuesday.

OpenAI said there are elevated error rates on Sora, its text-to-video generator, and ChatGPT, leaving users unable to access the service.

OpenAI’s official status page mentioned that they were investigating this problem, but the hashtag ‘ChatGPTisdown’ has begun to trend on X as users took to flooding the platform with memes and jokes on how the outage has affected them.

Tom’s Guide, a price comparison site, reports that the outage began showing up on the outage tracking site Downdetector at around 2:45 a.m. ET.

“We have identified the root cause for the issue causing elevated errors and latency across the listed services,” OpenAI said on its status page around 10 a.m. ET. “We are working on implementing a mitigation.”

Users in Europe, North America, and Australia have reported problems with the chatbot.
