…Positioning African festivals for global recognition, tourism boost
The New Yam Music Festival (NYMF) 2025 Iri Ji grand finale dazzled Enugu with cutting-edge technology fused into cultural heritage, featuring high-definition LED visuals, immersive lighting, large-scale stage architecture, and premium sound engineering that transformed traditional harvest celebrations into a globally competitive spectacle.
Organised and curated by Heritage & Culture Africa, the event transformed traditional Iri Ji celebrations, the Igbo New Yam Festival symbolising abundance and gratitude, into a modern, immersive spectacle.
Heritage & Culture Africa, said, “NYMF 2025 showed that culture thrives when it evolves in ways that resonate with today’s youth. The festival emphasised unity, cultural pride, and youth empowerment, providing a platform for young people to reinterpret traditions in relevant, modern contexts. Beyond the stage, NYMF demonstrated profound social responsibility. In the lead-up to the finale, organisers distributed 1,000 tubers of yams to motherless babies’ homes and local market communities across Enugu State.”
Blending ancestral storytelling with contemporary music, fashion, and high-tech production, NYMF drew thousands to Enugu, showcasing how African heritage can evolve to captivate global audiences.
BigSea Promotions, the official production partner, elevated the festival to international standards with large-scale stage architecture, high-definition LED visuals, immersive lighting, and premium sound engineering.
Performances seamlessly wove cultural narratives into electrifying contemporary sets, creating what organisers called a world-class cultural spectacle.
Celebration is meaningful when it touches the community, even as Heritage & Culture Africa highlighted NYMF’s potential for partnerships with government and brands, positioning it as a driver of youth engagement, tourism, and economic growth while preserving cultural identity.
With its success, the festival has established itself as the premier Grand Finale of the Iri Ji season. As curtains fell on NYMF 2025, organisers declared, “With Heritage & Culture Africa’s leadership and BigSea Promotions’ excellence, African cultural festivals are now relevant, sustainable, and poised for global recognition.”
This vibrant event not only celebrated harvest but also planted seeds for Nigeria’s cultural tourism boom, inviting the world to experience Africa’s beating heart.
