Interswitch has unveiled a new Ticket Vending Platform (TVP) to digitise operations and improve ticketing across Nigeria’s interstate transport sector.

Designed primarily for small and medium-scale transport businesses, TVP allows operators to create and manage routes, monitor terminal activities, track ticket sales, and access real-time operational insights from a centralised dashboard.

Chinyere Don-Okhuofu, managing director, industry ecosystems at Interswitch, said the initiative is designed to address long-standing inefficiencies in Nigeria’s transport ecosystem.

“Transportation remains a critical backbone of Nigeria’s economy, yet much of the sector still operates with fragmented systems and manual processes that limit efficiency and growth,” she said.

According to her, the platform is expected to help transport operators modernise their operations, improve transparency, and expand their customer reach through integration with the Quickteller ecosystem.

The platform launched as part of the company’s push to deepen digital transformation in critical sectors, combines operational management tools with a digital marketplace that enables transport operators to automate and manage their services more efficiently.

The platform’s token-based digital ticketing system enables commuters to purchase tickets through multiple channels, including web, mobile, and point-of-sale (POS) terminals deployed at transport hubs.

The generated tokens serve as digital vouchers that are validated at boarding points, helping operators reduce dependence on manual ticketing processes and cash transactions.

Beyond ticketing, the platform also introduces a marketplace feature that allows commuters to search, compare, and book transport options across multiple operators based on routes, schedules, and pricing.

The feature is expected to improve convenience for travellers while increasing visibility for transport providers.

For operators, TVP seeks to solve challenges such as disconnected sales channels, poor online visibility, and manual reconciliation processes.

By integrating with Quickteller, transport businesses can also access faster settlements and data-driven insights to improve operational efficiency and revenue generation.

The platform further supports corporate and institutional travel needs through bulk token purchases for employee and group transportation.

Interswitch said the solution will also provide regulators and other stakeholders with access to structured transport data and operational insights that can support oversight, licensing, and consumer protection within the sector.
