Globacom, national telecommunications carrier, is offering a special tariff plan for prepaid subscribers that make it more affordable for millions of its prepaid subscribers to call each other. The plan, Glo Ringa, allows subscribers on the Globacom network to call other subscribers on the network at just eleven kobo per second. The plan has effectively extended Family and Friends to all subscribers on the Globacom network. Yomi Ogunbamowo, head, business support group of Globacom, who unveiled the plan at a press briefing held in Lagos recently. He said Glo Ringa would enable Glo prepaid customers to significantly reduce their expenditure on phone calls. According to Ogunbamowo, this product is an effective way of rewarding the loyalty of Globacom’s teeming subscribers because it practically puts money back in their pockets for every call they make to other Glo subscribers. “With the increasing expenses incurred by individuals in their daily lives, it has become imperative to assist them to cope with life in our own way. This is why we have decided to give our esteemed subscribers excellent rates by significantly reducing the cost of calls they make to millions of other subscribers within the Glo network. For a fee of N250 weekly, subscribers get to pay a super low rate of 11k per second on all Glo-to-Glo calls from the very first second and there is no limit on how many calls they can make”.
He added that with Glo Ringa, “calling is made pretty easy and everyone on the network is now friends and family”. He urged interested subscribers to dial *170*40# to enjoy the massive benefits of Glo Ringa. He reassured Nigerians of the unimpeachable resolve of Globacom, a proudly Nigerian company, to offer qualitative services to the people in the most cost effective manner. Only recently, the telecoms company expanded its international roaming with the addition of over 100 leading network partners across the world in the last one year. Steve Stretch, head of Glo Gateway, Globacom’s international services arm, who made this known in a statement, said the achievement further enhances the company’s reputation as one of the biggest voice and data carriers in Africa. Subscribers to Glo who are on the postpaid platform can enjoy seamless roaming services in almost every part of the world as Glo has interconnectivity arrangements with over 430 partners in 176 countries. Thus Glo is now the network in Nigeria with the largest international postpaid roaming footprint. He noted that Glo had similarly extended its prepaid roaming to more destinations as the service is now available in most major destinations where it is partnering with over 80 leading networks. The countries include Unites States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Ireland, South Africa, Ghana, United Arab Emirate (UAE), Algeria, Belgium, Italy, India and Israel. They also include Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, Cote d’Ivoire, Benin Republic, Cameroon, Egypt, Gambia, Kenya, Russia, Turkey and Qatar.
