Galaxy S6 Duos & Edge: Setting new standards in industry design

The People Edge allows users to add five of their favourite or most dialed contacts to a quick-dial tab found on the edge of the home screen. Just pick your favourite contacts and assign them one out of the five colours-purple, green, blue, orange and red.  These contacts can easily be accessed by just tapping on the edge of the phone and their faces appear. Then tap on a contact and you have the option to call, text or email the contact. Now, the edge lighting kicks in alerting users when there is a missed call, text or email from any of the five contacts by lighting up the edge of the phone with corresponding colours of the contacts making it easier to identify a caller without having to pick up the phone. Users can easily dismiss the call or send a default message simply by touching the heart rate sensor on the back.

The information stream feature allows users choose from a selection of feeds that will steadily scroll along the edge display. From RSS feeds, to stock reports, sports scores, weather, Facebook and Twitter updates and notifications, the S6 Edge information stream definitely has you covered.

Another interesting aspect of the S6 Edge display is the night clock. As the name implies, it’s a clock that appears at night on the edge of the phone. Users can simply peep at the clock and see how little sleep they have got before the morning breaks. Sounds really cool, right? You do not even have to bother about which side of the phone to edge as either side of the phone can be activated at a time.

Nowadays, it’s expected that every new phone will deliver substantial improvement to its camera. The Galaxy S series are imbued with Samsung’s legendary high-performance camera system that generates brighter and clearer images. The devices feature a 16 megapixel rear-facing camera and 5 megapixel front-facing camera equipped with F1.9 aperture, which makes it possible for the camera to capture more light and take brighter pictures especially in low-light conditions. The ultra-fast quick launch feature launches the camera within seconds by simply double clicking the home button. The camera captures in about 0.7 seconds, which is super-fast by current standards. Users can instantly capture every precious moment within seconds. The volume keys can also be used as a shutter button.

Tracking autofocus technology locks on subjects and offer high degree of customization. This feature is designed to accurately keep every moving object in sharp/clear focus, including kids, and cars, just anything that’s in motion. The feature locks on moving subjects and allow for a better, less blurry shots. Great for action photos, this is a feature that was in time past only found in high-end cameras. The Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) on the rear camera helps to reduce blurred photos that occur by movement of the hands when shooting. The rear camera also features an infrared sensor that can better detect light levels to automatically discern between outdoor and indoor environments and adjust the camera accordingly.

The S6 Duos and S6 Edge’s front camera now have capacity to shoot high-dynamic range (HDR) photos, which captures three photos at different exposures and assemble the best parts of each image, thereby creating enhanced shots. Selfie lovers are not left out. The boosted 5 megapixel front camera, with 90 degree wide angle camera, can capture 360 degrees angle around an object. Infrared technology isn’t just for night vision anymore.

The devices support built-in Qi wireless charging where users can easily charge their devices wirelessly using a wireless charging pad. The state-of-the-art wireless charging technology is an impressive feature that supports the non-removable battery. By simply placing the phone on a wireless charger, the charge kicks in. This may not sound like much but it is one of those added conveniences that quickly becomes second nature and will be missed when not there. With the super-fast charging feature, the device can run for four hours on just 10 minutes of charging, and charges to full capacity in about 85 minutes. The home button also doubles as a fingerprint reader, meaning the user no longer needs to swipe: just place your finger on the button and it’s recognized. This feature is significantly accurate and easy to use.
