The federal government of Nigeria has approved the National policy plan.

This announcement was made known by Isa Pantami, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy on Wednesday at the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja. ⁣

According to Pantami, the Nigerian government has now formally approved blockchain use in Nigeria, adding that relevant agencies are expected to develop appropriate usage and regulatory framework for it.

“With the approval of the national blockchain policy for Nigeria today, we can safely say that blockchain technology with all its components and types has been institutionalised in the country,” said the Minister.⁣

A steering committee has been established and is to be led by National Information Technology Development Agency NITDA and other regulatory bodies.
