Raspberry Pi Limited is set to boost Nigeria’s technology drive with low cost innovative solutions, targeting education, healthcare and other industrial sectors.
Speaking during a meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, Ken Okolo, the company’s sales manager for Africa, explained that Raspberry Pi devices can be deployed to support businesses to improving productivity, generate revenue, improving communication, and enhancing customer experience and engagement.

“We build multipurpose computers that are used in different environments. So we build general purpose computers. Our computers, you can find them in different industrial verticals, whether it’s in medical technology, agricultural technology, EV charging, and a host of different areas.
“But when we think about Africa personally, there is the need for computers in educational environments, for instance, a lot of our public school children do not have access to computing devices, probably never see one until maybe when they get to university, sometimes afterwards. Those are environments, public school labs, where I think our low-cost, affordable devices could play a very big role across Nigeria and the African continent at large to help young people to be able to access the use of computers, which in turn then helps them with their learning and to be able to access the world in general.
“Another area where I see our computers could be very useful, is in the health sector. There are so many hospitals in the country where papers, files are still being carried around, where there’s a need for digital transformation. So that is another excellent case for the use of Raspberry Pi computers. These are places where getting the Raspberry Pi devices for a quarter of the price will really solve a key problem.
“Being able to go down this digital transformation route is also a beautiful way to help the healthcare industry in Nigeria. So those are two areas that I think immediately will see benefits of the use of Raspberry Pi,” he said.
In his remarks, Mike Buffham, chief commercial officer, Raspberry Pi limited, noted that the core mission of the company is to provide high quality, low cost, general purpose computing in Nigeria’s industrial and educational space.
“So we make general purpose computing, so as the name suggests, that means computing that’s suitable to a wide general marketplace. We do that at low cost, so we don’t do it cheap, we do it at a low cost, and we do a high quality product.”
