The inaugural CerAwards Africa 2026 has placed Nigeria at the centre of a growing global beauty and creator economy, as CeraVe and Konga Health rewarded top digital creators with trips to Paris and over N12 million in prizes.

The event marked the first time the CerAwards platform was introduced in Africa, bringing together skincare innovation, technology, and content creation under one stage. The initiative reflects a strategic push to connect global beauty brands with Africa’s fast-growing digital talent ecosystem.

Nigeria was selected as the launch destination due to the strong distribution network and market presence built by Konga Health. Organisers said the partnership is aimed at improving access to authentic skincare products while also supporting local creators to compete on a global level.

The ceremony, hosted by Nollywood actress Bisola Aiyeola, attracted key players from the beauty, entertainment, and digital industries. It featured a mix of awards, performances, and networking, highlighting how storytelling and commerce are increasingly shaping the beauty sector.

Leo Stan Ekeh, chairman of Zinox Group, said the event reflects the growing link between technology and creative industries.

He noted that platforms like CerAwards are helping to unlock economic opportunities for young Nigerians, while also ensuring access to genuine products in a market often challenged by counterfeits.

More than 800 creators submitted entries for the competition, showing the depth of Nigeria’s digital talent. After a screening process led by a panel including Funke Akindele, Uzor Arukwe, and industry experts, 64 contestants were shortlisted. Public voting, which recorded over 65,000 votes, later expanded the finalists to 28.

The competition covered six categories, including educational content, viral videos, and skincare-focused storytelling. In the end, six winners emerged.

Three creators — Perpetua Ugwuegede, Boluwatife Lawal, and Iyanuoluwa Sowemimo — won all-expense-paid trips to France, giving them exposure to the global beauty industry. Another three winners received N2 million worth of professional content creation equipment, while runners-up and other participants took home cash prizes and gifts.

The event also honoured contributions to the entertainment industry, with special recognition awards presented to Funke Akindele and Uzor Arukwe.

Beyond the prizes, industry observers say CerAwards signals a shift in how beauty brands engage African consumers. Instead of traditional advertising, brands are now investing in creators who can tell authentic stories and influence purchasing decisions online.

For Konga Health, the event strengthens its role as a key distributor of premium skincare products in Nigeria. Under the leadership of Yvonne Enwerem, the platform has focused on building trust by ensuring product authenticity and expanding access to global brands.

The success of CerAwards 2026 highlights the potential of collaborations between international brands and local platforms. It also shows how Nigeria’s creative economy is becoming an important part of global conversations around beauty, technology, and commerce.

With strong participation and industry backing, organisers say the event could become a recurring platform, further positioning Nigeria as a hub for digital creativity and innovation in Africa’s beauty market.
