A new era has begun at MG (Morris Green) fuelled by a 100 million pounds investment by the SAIC corporate. It is an era that marries the best of the old MG ethos of sporting affordability, style and British engineering with ownership and driving benefits made possible by 21st century automotive technology.

All over the world, MG is building cars again. The company’s MG is a genuinely convincing and classy family car alternative, and they are not pretending about their intention to establish sustainable global presence in regional markets including Nigeria, where Coscharis Motors is the franchisees.

Ask twenty people what the two letters ‘MG’ mean, and 19 of them will say ‘historic car brand’. They may not be totally wrong, and yet there are few more evocative symbols in motoring than the octagobal badge adorning some of the world’s greatest and most affordable sports cars.

Two cars in the modle line-up are spearheading the company’s resurgence. The MG3, a sparkly Fiesta-sized five-door hatch, is already generating a lot of positive comment from the specialist press, and the good news is that it is already on sale in many regional market and is already winning new converts.

The MG6 offered either as a five-door hatchback (MG6GT) or a four-door booted saloon format (MG6 Magnette), the 6 is a refreshing alternative to the increasingly same offering of mainstream car makers. Put together to the highest quality standards, the MG6 is a worthy reflection of the company’s clean-sheet approach.

Now the question many would be asking is, what is the different about the MG6? Well, size for a start.Small family cars can seem a little poky on the inside, while full-size family cars seem to become bigger with each iteration. MG6 sits neatly between the two classes, combining ample room for five (and their luggage that easily passes the golf bag test) with the wieldiness of a small car.

MG engineers are genuine petrol-heads who are continuously striving to make cars that both they and the brand owners would strive to drive. The relationship between engineers and MG6 owners, fostered by a series of events, has resulted in a collaborative, transparent and honest process and a brilliant chassis that is supple and responsive without being harsh- a trick not many cars can pull off.

Within the engine specification line-up,there is a choice of 160PS TCI-Tech turbocharged petrol 1.8 or 150PS DTi-Tech 1.9 turbo diesel producing 350Nm of torque at just 1800 rpm and incorporating an intelligent stop-start system. Both engines deliver eight-second 0-60 times and flexible, economical performance.

High specification is another MG6 trump card with a 6.5inch, 27-nation coverage satellite navigation system with lifetime TMC traffic avoidance standard on all but the base S-Model. The MG6 is a versatile, distinctive and beautifully built with excellent chassis dynamics. In a jaded market, it is something genuinely fresh.

From last year till date and beyond, it is a robust brand that won’t be disappearing overnight, or when the next global crisis hits. SAIC, the automakers are in it for the long run. In 2012, the company built 4.6 million cars. Inside, MG6 cabin combines crafted quality with high specification.

From  August 1 to September 30, 2014; Coscharis Motors is bringing excitement to customers and prospects with a display of Morris Garages Cars at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos mark MG 90th anniversary which was celebrated in UK at Silverstone Circuit.

A key aspect of the display is the weekend-long test drive offer to potential customers for any of the brand vehicles of their choice, so as to experience the luxury and capabilities of the brand.

Coscharis acquired MG franchise three years ago. While the brand is still relatively new in Nigeria, it has a British heritage of over 90 years.

It offers modern British sporting style with a spacious and advanced interior that fits right in with contemporary luxury cars and aims to create a whole new set of benchmarks for inter-medium sedan cars with class leading interior space, superior rear passenger legroom, and enough head-space to make for a spacious and comfortable ride. Safety standards are another key point in all new MG line-up.
