Government Secondary School wins story telling competition

 Government Secondary School, Lugbe, has won the Abuja leg of the National Dramatised Story Telling Competition for schools, organised by the National Troupe of Nigeria in partnership with Beeta Universal Arts Foundation.

The school’s centenary play titled: ‘Our Journey Here’ was adjudged the best out of six schools – Crest International School Mararaba, School for the Gifted Gwagwalada, Government Secondary School, Garki, and Federal Government Girls College, Bwari, that made it to the finals. The finals held at the Women Development Centre, Central Business District, Abuja on Friday, May 31, 2013. Over 45 schools competed in the secondary category, but only six got to the finals for the secondary school category.

GSS, Lugbe got a giant trophy donated by Golden Penny Pasta and some education materials like a projector and computer for emerging tops. School for the Gifted Gwagwalada and Crest International School, Mararaba finished second and third places, respectively. Ideal Basic School, Kubwa emerged winners in the primary school category, while La Vogue International School, Kurudu and Banky’s Private School emerged second and third place winners, respectively. The Lagos final is scheduled for Wednesday, June 5, at the National Theatre Iganmu, Lagos.

A total of 11 schools, five in the primary schools category and six in the secondary school category will be competing for honour at the Lagos finals that will be chaired by the former secretary of women affairs in the Interim Government of Ernest Shonekan, Emily Frank-Aig Imoukhuede.
