Two Nigerians, Dakore Egbuson and Ayo Makun will join their Ghanaian counterpart AMA K. Abebrese to host the 2013 edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards scheduled to take place April 20th in Yenagoa, capital of Bayelsa State.

Dakore, a prominent figure among Nigerian female actors and an indigene of Bayelsa State will compliment the award-winning stand-up comedian Ayo Makun while Ama K. Abebrese a British television presenter, producer and actress of Akan origin in Ghana will complete the trio.

According to a statement signed by Tony Anih, Director of Administration of AMAA the host for this year awards were carefully selected to give guests new experience and promote the spirit of unity in Africa which the awards scheme has been promoting in the last nine years of existence.

‘’Each of them will bring to the stage on April 20th at the Gloryland Cultural Centre their vast experiences as celebrities, event and TV hosts. AY’s pedigree as a stand-up comedian is outstanding. As an actress and TV presenter Dakore is a class act. AMA K will hold the audience with her unique and definitive mastery of English language as a former British television presenter and one of Ghana’s best female actors,’’ said Anih.

On the plans of the organisers to have a hitch-free event, Anih explained that the AMAA team is working hand in hand with officials of Bayelsa State, the host said to deliver a new experience to guests this year.

‘’We are working very hard to make sure we don’t have logistics problem which has always been one area we have been falling short of expectations. Again our guests must also bear it in mind that Bayelsa is not Lagos or Abuja where we have ready-made infrastructure that can support event of this magnitude. Bayelsa is still developing as a city and the present government of Governor Dickson is working hard to accelerate the development of Yenagoa into a modern city,’’ he concluded.

In addition, a book and craft fair is being held as part of the activities for the 9th edition of the awards. The fair have many reading and technical sessions according to fair director, Onyeka Nwelue. It has in attendance, accomplished playwright Femi Osofisan, NLNG Prize for Literature winner, Akachi Adimora-Ezeigbo and former minister of federal capital, Mallam Nasir El-rufai who will read from his latest book, ‘The Accidental Public Servant’. The book fair started on Wednesday April 17th and will end today, Friday April 19th.
