The global sports community is mourning the loss of Sina “Evolve” Ghami, a pioneering sports rehabilitation specialist and long-time friend of former two-time heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua.
Ghami tragically lost his life on Monday, December 29, in a fatal road accident in Ogun State, which also claimed the life of another companion. The incident reportedly occurred in Makun, along the busy Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.

Widely respected within elite sporting circles, Ghami was a transformative figure in high-performance rehabilitation, renowned for bridging the gap between clinical recovery and peak athletic output.

A childhood friend of Anthony Joshua, he served as Joshua’s full-time sport and exercise rehabilitation coach for more than a decade, playing a critical role in the boxer’s career.
Ghami was a key presence in Joshua’s corner during several landmark bouts, most notably the historic 2017 victory over Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley Stadium — a defining moment in modern heavyweight boxing.

His expertise extended far beyond the boxing ring. Educated in the United States, including time at Michigan State University, where he worked with the Michigan State Spartans, Ghami built a transatlantic career that saw him apply his innovative methods across multiple sports. He worked with elite athletes in the NBA, NFL and MLB, including Draymond Green and Le’Veon Bell.
In 2017, he co-founded Evolve Gym in Ruislip, London, channelling his elite-level experience into a facility that reflected his forward-thinking philosophy.
Evolve Gym became known for integrating cognitive training with physical performance, redefining conventional approaches to athletic development and rehabilitation.
Sina “Evolve” Ghami will be remembered not only as a rehabilitation specialist, but as a true performance engineer for some of the world’s most demanding athletes.
