Tyson Fury has called on Anthony Joshua to prioritise their long-awaited £150 million (over N277 billion) showdown instead of pursuing a bout with Deontay Wilder.

The proposed all-British heavyweight clash has been years in the making. The rivals had previously agreed terms five years ago, only for a legal ruling to force Fury into a trilogy with Wilder.

Joshua’s knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois in 2024 further derailed plans, costing Fury a lucrative payday.

Speaking ahead of his return fight, Fury insisted the time has come to finally make the blockbuster bout happen.

Fury Set for Comeback, Targets Joshua Next

Fury returns to the ring this Saturday after a 16-month hiatus to face Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Meanwhile, Joshua is expected to make his own comeback in July after recovering from a car accident shortly after his knockout victory over Jake Paul last December.

Despite links to a potential fight with Wilder, who recently called him out following his victory over Derek Chisora, Fury has urged Joshua to wait.

“That fight was supposed to happen so many times over the last 10 years,” Fury said.

“But then someone has had one more fight in between, or someone has been knocked out or injured. Forget Wilder, the man is a shell of himself, and forget anyone else.”

Fury emphasised the urgency of making the fight happen, warning of the unpredictability of heavyweight boxing.

“Let me get through Saturday, and then we will do the fight before the end of the year,” he added.
“I’ve been out of the ring longer than he has, 16 months, so let’s do it; let’s dance. I think we should get this fight on as soon as possible, in case something happens in between.

“Anything can go wrong in heavyweight boxing. There are no easy fights; if you get knocked out, it’s done. I want the fight next, and I am sure AJ feels the same.”

With both fighters edging closer to potential comebacks, momentum is once again building toward one of boxing’s most anticipated and lucrative, unresolved matchups.
