Thomas Partey charged with two new rape counts

Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with two additional counts of rape involving a new alleged victim.

The development comes after the 32-year-old Ghanaian international previously pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape involving two women and one count of sexual assault, allegedly relating to a third woman.

With the new charges, Partey now stands accused of sexual offences involving four women.

The two latest counts relate to alleged offences said to have taken place in 2020 and were first reported to police in August 2025. They follow a fresh investigation by the Metropolitan Police.

Partey is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on March 13 for a first hearing in relation to the new charges.

The Ghana international was granted conditional bail at Southwark Crown Court in September after entering not guilty pleas to the original charges.

The earlier alleged offences, for which he was charged last year, are said to have occurred between 2021 and 2022 while he was playing for north London club Arsenal. He was formally charged four days after leaving Arsenal when his contract expired at the end of June.

The charges stem from an investigation launched in February 2022 after police received an initial report of rape.

Since leaving the Premier League, Partey has joined Spanish side Villarreal on a one-year deal, with the transfer confirmed after he had been charged.

Partey signed for Arsenal from Atletico Madrid for £45.3 million in October 2020 and went on to make 130 Premier League appearances under Mikel Arteta.
