Coach Adamu Kuta of Niger Potters male basketball club said early preparation was imperative to success for D’Tigers to achieve desired results at the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
Kuta told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that teams which had blended with long duration of training and trial matches certainly would do better than those with hasty training experience.
“We should not be surprised at the performance of Tunisia in that Men’s AfroBasket final match. It showed they prepared better than us.
“How can we match a team that had stayed together for a longer period and played many trial matches,’’ the coach of the Minna-based club said.
While calling on the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) to quickly put the team together, Kuta pointed out that “failing to prepare is preparing to fail’’.
He described the team as “very talented and skilled’’ while lacking team spirit due to hasty preparation.
NAN reports that the world basketball tournament to be hosted by China will hold from Aug. 31 to Sept. 15.
