Liverpool have been warned about the precarious situation surrounding Mohamed Salah‘s contract renewal, with a prominent figure in Saudi Arabia expressing the nation’s desire to lure the Egyptian star to the Middle East.
Salah‘s contract at Anfield expires in just 135 days, raising the spectre of Liverpool losing one of their most iconic players for nothing.
Despite his advancing years (he turns 33 this summer), Salah continues to perform at the peak of his abilities, demonstrating this weekend why his departure would create a massive void at Anfield.

The Egyptian forward scored twice in Liverpool’s hard-fought 2-0 victory over Bournemouth, preserving their six-point lead at the top of the Premier League.
His performance drew high praise from BBC pundit Troy Deeney, who also criticized Liverpool for allowing the contract situation to reach this point.
“The reason for Liverpool winning the game,” Deeney told BBC Sport, “was Salah. His penalty and then an unbelievable finish. You knew he was going to go with that left foot, but you just can’t stop it. It was real quality. It’s ridiculous that we’re even having a conversation about him potentially leaving. He was excellent.”
Interest from Saudi Arabia has escalated in recent weeks, with reports of a lucrative £65 million, two-year contract offer circulating.
Adding fuel to the fire, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal addressed the speculation directly in an interview with Piers Morgan, acknowledging Salah’s status as a “big prize” for Saudi football.
“Definitely, because he ticks all the right boxes. Even for us, we’d love to have him,” the Saudi sports minister stated.
Al-Faisal stopped short of confirming an imminent deal, however, suggesting that negotiations are still in progress. “To have Mo Salah or other players who are good role models would be a pleasure and a privilege in the Saudi League. Will it happen? That’s up to the clubs to decide and to see what negotiations take place.”
With the clock ticking on Salah’s contract, Liverpool face a crucial moment in their efforts to retain their star player, while Saudi Arabia watches intently, poised to pounce.
