Lakers coach Redick devastated after losing home in LA Wildfires

Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick has opened up about the “devastation and destruction” of losing his home to the raging wildfires in Los Angeles.

At least 11 people have lost their lives, and over 10,000 homes and structures have been destroyed in the fires, which have caused unprecedented damage across the region.

Redick’s residence in the Pacific Palisades, the area hardest hit by what has become the most destructive fire in LA’s history, was consumed by flames on Tuesday.

“I went through most of the village, and it’s all gone. It’s complete devastation and destruction,” Redick shared. “Everything we own that was of any importance to us after 20 years together as a couple and 10 years of parenting were in that house. There are certain things that you can’t replace.

“I don’t think you can ever prepare yourself for something like that,” he added, reflecting on the personal loss.

In light of the ongoing disaster, the Lakers postponed their scheduled game against the Charlotte Hornets earlier this week. On Friday, the NBA announced further postponements, including Saturday’s home games for both the Lakers and the LA Clippers.

Redick, a former NBA player who had a 15-season career, moved to Los Angeles with his family in June after being appointed as the Lakers’ head coach. His wife and two sons were fortunately away from the home when the fire struck.

The Pacific Palisades blaze underscores the severity of the wildfire crisis gripping California, leaving communities devastated and prompting calls for increased emergency aid and long-term solutions.
