Kwara scouting program gets sports commission backing

Kwara State Sports

The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bolakale Magaji, has thrown his weight behind the Kwara State Government/ FA Sports Showcase Tournament aimed at discovering fresh talents.

Magaji recently hosted a delegation of the organisers of the program at his office in Ilorin.

The delegation, led by Programme Coordinator Olawale Olatoye, FA Sport representative Ayodeji Adegbenro, and Chairman of Ilorin West Local Football Council Abdulrasaq Owolabi Agbaji, was given a tour of the state’s sporting facilities by the Executive Chairman and the Director of Sports, Mallam Ibrahim Bako. The tour included the Main Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, where the tournament will be held, and the newly built Squash Court.

Magaji praised the organisers for their initiative, noting that the tournament aligns with the state government’s grassroots project aimed at enhancing talent and providing opportunities for young athletes to showcase their skills and advance their football careers.

“The Kwara State Government is committed to developing sports at the grassroots level, and this scouting programme is a laudable initiative that aligns with our objectives. We are happy to support this programme and provide the necessary facilities for its success,” Magaji said.

“We are passionate about uncovering and nurturing talent in Kwara State, and this programme is a vital step in achieving that goal. I urge all stakeholders to support this initiative, and I assure the organisers of our full backing to make this programme a success,” he added.

The organisers of the scouting tournament presented the Executive Chairman and Director of Sports with a souvenir of the programme.

The Kwara State/FA Sport Scouting programme is scheduled to take place from July 15 to 19, 2024.
