HiFL 2021: UNIBEN Royals, ABU Nobles, FUTMINNA Qualify for Round of 16

LAUTECH GOALKEEPER MAKING A SAVE WHEN THE TEAM MET UNILAG MARINES IN LAGOS

UNIBEN Royals, ABU Nobles and FUTMINNA have all joined FUTA Tigers and LAUTECH in the round of 16 in the ongoing Higher Institutions Football League (HiFL). The Royals drew their last game with the NDU Oilers to top Zone D with ten points, scoring five goals. FUTMINNA and ABU Nobles played a draw to finish first and second respectively.

LAUTECH played a 1-1 draw with UNILAG Marines in the last game to top Pot 1 in Zone C with four points. After playing a 1-1 draw with the LASU Blazers, the FUTA Tigers defeated the team from Olabisi Onabanjo University 1-0 to top Pot 2 and ended with four points.

As it stands, UNIBEN Royals, ABU Nobles, FUTMINNA, FUTA Tigers and LAUTECH will join the teams that played in the Super Four in the 2019 Season for the next round. The four teams that are on standby are UAM Tillers, UNICAL Malabites, OAU Giants and UNILORIN Warriors.

Other teams that are likely to join in the round of sixteen include UNN Lions who are presently toping their Zone on seven points, UNIMAID Desert Warriors which has seven points and BUK Stallions also with seven points from Zone A. From Zone E, FUNAI Hawks stands a chance with six points while UNIUYO Tuskites keeps a close tap on qualifying with five points in their kitty. In Zone D, NDU Oilers are presently on five points with a game in hand against Adekunle Ajasin University and UNILAG Marines that gathered four points from Zone C.
