Former French defender William Gallas has urged Chelsea to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen if they aim to finish top of the Premier League and compete for major honours.

Chelsea were previously linked with Osimhen and had been keen on the Super Eagles forward at one point, but instead, the Blues opted to sign Liam Delap and João Pedro during the summer transfer window.

Osimhen went on to complete a permanent move to Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Gallas, a former Chelsea defender who spent five years at Stamford Bridge, believes the addition of Osimhen would help boost Chelsea squad.

Speaking to OLBG, the 48-year-old pointed to a lack of experience in the current squad.

“I think they are missing some experienced players because when we look at the game against Arsenal, they drew that game. Unfortunately, Moises Caicedo got a red card,” Gallas said.

“When you see the challenge, he made a big mistake. With 11 players, I’m sure Chelsea would have won that game. That’s why I say they are missing experienced players, a little bit.

“To be honest, a player who can really put Chelsea on top for me is Victor Osimhen. I wanted to see him sign for Chelsea.

“Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. But my dream is still to see him play for Chelsea because, with his quality, I think he would adapt perfectly.”

Osimhen has scored 12 goals in 16 appearances so far this season, underlining his status as one of the most lethal forwards in European football.
