Galatasaray are reportedly prepared to offer Victor Osimhen the captaincy in a bid to fend off growing interest from Manchester United, according to a report on Turkish media.

The Süper Lig champions have no intention of selling the Nigerian striker this summer and are determined to make him the cornerstone of their long-term project.

Manchester United have placed the 27-year-old Nigerian striker at the top of a five-man striker shortlist, with the Premier League club seeking an elite centre-forward to complement Benjamin Šeško and potentially replace the departing Joshua Zirkzee.

Galatasaray paid a club-record fee to sign Osimhen permanently from Napoli, with the forward now valued at around €150 million. Head coach Okan Buruk and the club’s hierarchy view him as a central figure in their ambitions for the future.

Osimhen had an outstanding performance during the 2025/26 season. The prolific striker recorded 15 goals and five assists in just 22 Süper Lig appearances, while contributing 22 goals and eight assists across all competitions.

Galatasaray hope that elevating Osimhen’s leadership role and symbolic importance within the squad will strengthen his commitment to the club and help resist any potential move to the Premier League.
