Floyd Mayweather reveals how he earned $9m in 9 minutes

Popularly known as the ‘Money Man’ Floyd Mayweather has revealed he pocket a staggering $9,000,000 for just nine minutes work.

The undefeated boxing legend came out of retirement for an exhibition fight with Japanese kickboxing knockout artist Tenshin Nasukawa .

Mayweather earned $9 million for his involvement in the New Year’s Eve event, which was promoted by Japanese mixed martial arts organisation Rizin at the Saitama Arena.

Nasukawa, 20-year, has not lost in 28 kickboxing fights, boasting an incredible record of 22 wins by way of knockout.

Mayweather stunned the world of boxing when he agreed to take part in a special exhibition fight with Nasukawa – but the bout will not count towards his 50-0 unbeaten record.

In three rounds under boxing rules, multi-millionaire Mayweather revealed on Instagram he will walk away with an eye-watering sum for his efforts.

“What if I told you I was making $9,000,000 for 9 minutes of sparring in Tokyo, Japan,” he revealed in a post.

“Would you do the same if you were me? I like to call it a 9 minute walk thru.”

It pales in comparison to what the American earned for his last fight.

Mayweather knocked Nasukawa down three times before the Japanese’s team threw in the towel.

“It was all about entertainment – we had a lot of fun,” Mayweather said after the fight, per BBC Sport.

“They wanted this to happen in Japan, so I said ‘why not?'”

The 41-year-old reiterated that he remains retired from boxing.

Mayweather was reportedly $300,000,000 richer after his 10th round victory in August 2017 in Las Vegas over UFC icon Conor McGregor.

McGregor has made no secret of the fact he would be open to a rematch, while Mayweather has teased the prospect of an MMA bout with the Irishman.

Although five-weight world champion Mayweather insisted he would retire after that win in the T-Mobile Arena, it is thought that he may be tempted into another money-spinning rematch with Manny Pacquiao next year.
