The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has called on Nigerians to rally behind newly appointed Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, assuring that the football governing body will provide him with the necessary support to succeed.
Speaking during Chelle’s official unveiling on Monday at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, Gusau expressed confidence in the Franco-Malian’s ability to rejuvenate the Super Eagles and lead them to success in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

“I see in the new Head Coach the right spirit and the right attitude, and I have faith that he will take the Super Eagles to the next level,” Gusau stated.
“He sees the job of leading the Super Eagles as his dream job, and that is a huge motivation in itself. Coach Chelle recognises and appreciates what is ahead of him, and he says he loves the challenge. We will be there giving him the necessary support all the way.”

Gusau revealed that Chelle has signed a two-year contract, with an option for an additional year if he qualifies Nigeria for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The new coach will work with three assistants while collaborating with the existing technical crew to enhance the Super Eagles’ performance. Chelle will also oversee the Super Eagles B team, which is preparing for the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN), in a supervisory capacity.
